   SHARAPOVA DIARIES

Welcome to the Student's home page

Look at the three groups below, and decide which ONE of these you are most suited to.

There are two sub-groups.

Collectors collect items which they can sell.

Hunters perform the administrative work.

There will be an administrative commitee consisting of a

Chair,

Secretary who will receive correspondence from this page, and a

Treasurer. Later they will elect two committee members.

  TREASURER'S REPORT

You will be saving a minimum of $2 per week (or $104 per annum). One of you will need to ask a parent to bank this money for you. This should be in a separate account at your bank. You will not be able to withdraw it. Rainierbank.biz will be matching your savings dollar for dollar. The minimum amount your account should show is 1c per day for a year, or $3.65. The goal is to get your whole class saving the same amount of $2 per day.

Once you have been saving for a whole year, you may decide to buy a property card. If you do I will send to your school a work of original art worth at least $60, which you may borrow until your investment is returned. If you are unsure, check the FAQ page for more details.

Agenda.

Organise the whole class into three treams.

Below you will see the names of the teams. Don't worry, everybody will take part in all competiitions. Academics will organise a quiz, and everybody will know all the answers. If you are unsure, ask your teacher or school Recycling Officer. If you don't have one ask your Principal to appoint one staff member. There will also be a sports day and a painting "competion, from which the whole class will judge the best entry. Good luck.

Artists' books are works of art realized in the form of a book. They are often published in small editions, though sometimes they are produced as one-of-a-kind objects referred to as "uniques".

Miró created over 250 illustrated books.[32] These were known as "Livre d' Artiste."

If you wish to, you can spend some of your income on a paper trash sack.

The current New Zealand price for Aluminium is $14 per kilogram. This means recyclers will pay for used aluminium cans. Collect these (clean) and squash them flat. A trash sack holds 5kg of aluminium cans and we will pay $2 per kilogram, meaning $10 per 5kg bag.

Artists

You are going to organise an art competition for your school. If you have an art teacher, ask if he or she wants to get involved. The title for the work of art is "A Pile of Rubbish".

Before you begin you may wish to practice drawing some still life. One subject is "Lemons".

Another is "Carrots and sporting equipment".

Another is "Our Principal" or "Our Teacher".

The competition costs $2 (of MONOPOLY money) to enter, and can be done at any time.

Have a look at the works of Joan MIRO

Ask you teacher or secretary to email us and we will provide more details, and may even be able to arrange sponsorship.

To find out more, you will have to find one of the Hunters to hunt down the facts.

You are going to organise regular athletic events.

These are simple competitions such as running 50m, running in a relay, throwing a ball, and so on.

Everybody will enter in two events, and it will cost you $2 (of your $200 monopoly money) to do so. There will be prizes, and the times and distances will be recorded.

Collectors will have to collect the names of the people in the class who are going to compete.
